She has stolen my fear to use alcohol ever again.

My wife shared these most profound words that change my entire life. 

Back story…in October 2016 my wife left on a business trip to Japan and I was so excited and ready to be free to drink as much as I wanted, but I had to hide money so she would see any suspicious banking or credit card use. I had a plan though!! 

I need food, so when I went to the grocery store I would buy a bottle of wine even though I hated wine but that was the only way I could drink alcohol to get drunk. The problem was I went shopping every day LOL. I thought this was a perfect plan but I didn’t think she would ever find out. OK that was what I believed at the time. My mind was so focussed on drinking that I never ever thought I would get caught. 

For that thirty days of freedom, I was in my element of bliss though I thought. The time was ticking on the return of my wife…I loaded up and doubled up the last days of freedom. 

Now with the day of reckoning when my wife arrived back in the dungeon, I called home. I picked her up from the airport and she looked at me with a confused look and said what did you do again? Later that night she asked me to have a conversation about something very important. I didn’t want to but I knew she would be very insistent about it. The conversation started with, do you have something to tell me? Why did you go shopping every day, did you buy food or wine? I was so fucking blown away. I said how do you know, “I know everything” I was scared and wanted to run away and hide in a dark place where no one could find me. 

She said to me… “STEFAN you can lie to me and to your family but you CAN’T lie to yourself or to the god or universe you believe in. My wife said… I am going to be happy if your life or not…if you want to drink then that is your choice but please drink somewhere else than our home. Tears started to run down my face…I didn’t know what to say back to her. 

I thought for the whole night without sleeping much. I had a massive decision to make “Keep drinking or TAKE MY POWER OVER MY ADDICTIONS” That was the last time I touched a drink… it’s been over 5 1/2 years and my life has taken a massive leap for the better. 

I work on myself every single day to have awareness, to do a mental check on myself by asking am I doing something that gives me misunderstood love or am I receiving real genuine love for myself.
